Answer: a big mac meal is about S$6 and the burger is S$3+. the flagdown charge for taxis is S$2.50 with surcharges during peak hours, public holidays and midnight and S$0.10 every 210m thereafter and every 25secs wait. i'm thinking a 30min trip should cost about S$20+. how much money u should take really depends on what u want to do and how u want to spend. being a food paradise i really suggest u don't waste the little precious time u have here on a big mac but try some local dishes. they can be found everywhere in food courts and hawker centers, has a great variety for u to choose from and is very cheap. i suggest chicken rice or roti prata if u've never tasted them before. nobody i know doesn't like them. if u are in transit, i suggest u join the free city tour that takes u around the island. just go to the visitors center in the airport and they will have more information for u. for 10hrs, city tours are your best bet. if not it's best to just wander around the financial and shopping district. take a train down to cityhall and explore your way around. if u're not planning to do any major shopping or splurge in restaurants, i'd say S$50 per person is more than enough for half a day.

Pronounced "pun-dun", many taxi drivers believe that the leaves ward off cockroaches when in reality, the leaves of the lemon grass (and not pandan) contain a natural insect repellent. Pandan is also used to make the traditional coconut jam - you know, that green mucous-looking jam called "kaya" that is eaten with toast in Singapore. I used to have the pandan plant right next to my lemon grass plant in the garden but my dog uses it as a scratching post and killed the plant. You can get it in markets.

Its advisable to go to the JB-Spore taxi terminal in front of KOTARAYA shopping complex. Its MYR$25 per person to Queen's street in spore. Alternatively you can hire the whole taxi for MYR$100 for upto 4 passengers. Be sure to catch your taxi fm the 1st floor of the taxi terminal. Dont fall prey to pirate taxi outside the building offering to ferry you to any part of spore. They use private cars and not taxi. You could end up with S$100-150 poorer. Just imagine the trouble if you get caught in spore, or in case there is an accident, remember they are not registered to ferry passenger.
