How do I write a conclusion on the revoultionary war?

Britain and the colonies had just fought together against the French in the French and Indian war and won. Soon after problems started to arise and before anyone knew it the colonies and Britain were getting ready for the Revolutionary War. But don’t you wonder why the colonists declared a Revolutionary War on Britain? I think they were sick of their freedom being limited. Such as being told were they can settle, be taxed on everyday items, and being told what they could do. Britain passed the Proclamation of 1763. It stated that colonists could not settle west of the Appalachian Mountains. In order to prevent another up rise like Pontiac’s Rebellion, Britain wanted to keep the land with the Native American allies. Another war with the Native Americans would’ve put Britain in extreme debt. Many of the colonists had no land of their own. It also caused colonists to lose their money after buying land as an investment. When the Proclamation of 1763 was passed the colonists were upset because they felt they didn’t get the freedom that they earned, after winning the French and Indian War. Since Britain was in debt after the war they turned to the colonies for money. In 1764 Parliaments passed The Sugar Act. The Sugar Act taxed goods such as sugar, molasses, and other goods. In 1765 Parliament passed the Quartering Act. The Quartering Act required colonists to house British soldiers and provide them with supplies they needed. Parliaments also passed another law called The Stamp Act. This law required all legal and commercial documents to carry and official stamp showing that a tax had been paid. The colonists had to pay for stamps with silver coins which were a limited item in the colonies. The Coercive Acts also known as the Intolerable Acts by the colonists, would close the Port of Boston, banned the Committees of Correspondence, allow Britain to house British soldiers wherever needed, and let British officials accused of crimes in the colonies stand trial in Britain. This act only affected Massachusetts but the other colonies felt as if this could happen to Massachusetts it could happen to them as well. The colonies offered Massachusetts their help by sending clothes, food and money. By doing this act of kindness they felt that they were helping them in their time of need.
Answer: I would keep the conclusion succinct: "We Won."

Answer: You probably won't be able to change the graphics card. Most laptops have them soldered into the motherboard. I'd look into it a little bit more and research it before making a purchase. The resolution isn't too high, so you will probably play them at pretty high settings, though.

If I get the memory that plugs into the usb port of my home computer will it speed up my system like it does w?

I know you can speed up your system by adding memory internally to the tower but I was wondering if it speeds your system up by adding the memory by plugging it in the usb port(externally)Any other tweaks for windows Vista to speed up my system would be appreciated. Also,if i remove the memory thats already in my tower will i lose the programs that i currently have installed on my system?
Answer: 1) Adding internal memory will only speed up the computer if you don't have enough memory to run the programs you run. Once you get to that point, no additional amount of memory will speed anything up (unless you start running more programs). 2) Adding external memory - if you're running Vista - will speed up your hard drive access. That memory acts as an additional disk cache. 3) Adding or removing memory has no effect on programs on your hard drive. But why would you remove memory in the tower? If you want to make your computer run faster, stop running programs you don't need running. Look in your system tray (by the clock) and in the Startup tab in msconfig (run it by pressing the Windows key+R).

I wrote a story, I was depressed, what do you think?

An unhinged wagon, a metal framework having been left behind, for no special purpose. Had the train noticed one of its compartments missing, it would have been so awfully sorry for leaving it behind, but being so busy worrying about a million other imaginary factors, the train would have never remembered, and the tail of a great metal serpent would have been left standing on the tracks, numb from confusion, enduring rain and snow, rust and the loss of hope. Years would pass, the metal form devoured by rust, no longer resembling a wagon, neither in form nor in function, it would call out to the silent glistening stars, imploring "before I vanish into the wind, instill within me the reassurance that me remaining behind was a sacrifice which must have been made, so that I may have relinquished this world with a sense of slight relief. The stars had known the truth and wept but had no courage to confront the pile of rust, until one night a brave little star descended to the sleeping heap of metal fragments and whispered softly "the bitter truth, abandoned human creation, is that you had no mission, you were no sacrifice, the world does not even claim you to have been forgotten because you were not even remembered, no anger has been spilled, no joy, only complete indifference. In a world where everyone believes in a personal destiny, ambitiously trying to fulfill their magical plan, bound by the chains of conformity, the striving mass has made a collective turn and you were left out, I am sorry." Years have gone by, the stars no longer spoke. One evening, vaguely outlined by the setting sun, was a tiny grasshopper, approaching slowly towards the direction of a metal pile. Upon the surface of the left rail he walked, his entire life. He stopped at the sight of the pile "could it be? he was entirely lost in wonder" Carefully, he touched the metal fragments, examining the rust, and the overall condition of the wagon. Finally, he shook his head and concluded "no, you are not dead, you might have lost all hope and the motivation to exist from such overpowering apathy, you are so very ill, but not all is lost." "Legend has it" resumed the grasshopper while continuing a thorough examination "that we gray hoppers are direct descendants of the hinge dwelling cricket himself, where long ago there lived a courageous cricket, dwelling his entire life within an iron hinge which connected the last wagon to the remainder of the train. One day, he awakened to find out that the hinge was not complete; he glanced in confusion into the emptiness from his crevice and wondered about the disappearance of the second half of his hinge. And so the next day he set out in search for the lost wagon, he walked upon the surface of the left rail and his descendents have been walking down the same rail, all hoping that their destiny will one day be fulfilled, that someday the wagon will be found and the train could be reunited with its loss once more. And so I will scrape of this rust and piece by piece, I will restore you back to life, for such is my destiny. And the cricket worked though day and night nonstop, he worked in snow and rain, assembling the fragments like a giant puzzle. At last, one snowy morning the train awoke, restored to its former glory, and from the hinge appeared a joyful face of a grasshopper, informing the wagon that an engine has also been installed, and that they were to lose no time and set out immediately, for the grasshopper himself has lost much strength by now, and the last thing he wanted to see was the long awaited reunion of a complete hinge between the two wagons. Thus days went by, at full speed the train continued to race into the unknown, and the grasshopper, overflowing with hope, was likewise staring into the unknown, while his limbs continued to become more and more numb with every mile. And there it was at last, the final port, the end of tracks, but no train station or trains were anywhere to be found. Instead winged beasts were there, some lifting into the air, some standing covered with snow. The cricket was silently looking from left to right, from one airplane to the next, finally he said "I do not think these are the trains, we must investigate" The information leaked that trains were obsolete by now, that time has passed and airplanes were the new way business was done in the new age. The wagon was given a choice to be melted and recycled for parts to be integrated within the new line of planes and ships, but the wagon has shortly after disappeared and was never heard from again.
Answer: you wrote this?! at first I thought it was random rabble, but then after I reread it, it kept me thinking for some time. this is truly profound, although I could see how some people would be lost since it's so long and has no neat paragraphs, 1st grade. indeed, this is brilliant.

Wii Synchronization slot/port?

Is there such a thing as a Wii synchronization port / slot? Im an employee at a Toys R Us, and earlier I had a customer who was interested in purchasing a Wii for their childs Christmas present. It seemed like the sale was going well, the gentleman already knew he wanted to buy a Wii, it was just a matter of educating the customer about the product... Something I felt very capable of doing since I am a Wii owner. I covered the basics of the system, and explained that as long as he had a wifi connection in his house he could access the internet channels from virtually anywhere within range. He was pleased, to say the least... He asked if the wii was compatible with his sons DS, and I told him that in certain games it was, and that Nintendo offered select downloads through an internet enabled download to the DS. However he wasnt satisfied with that... he said something about how he read of a Nintendo DS synchronization port on top of the system under one of its hinged panels. I tried to tell him that I owned a system and had never heard of this before, but he apparently decided I was full of bologna and he would be better off buying one from somewhere who "wasnt going to lie to him." After an over dramatic exit the sale was lost to us and I was left wondering if there was such a thing a synchronization slot?
Answer: The only thing that the Wii uses to sync is the red button by the SD slot. As far as I know there is nothing like that out. He may have been confused or maybe its a feature of the DSi.

Power an external hard drive using only a USB port?

I have an external 250 GB harddrive from Cavalry, I was wondering if I could power it using the USB cord instead of needing the AC adapter. I just lost my flash drive and was looking for a feasible solution that wasnt buying anything. I have a 3.5 inch, I only have an Ipod touch. I dont care if I have to mess with the thing or use batteries, hack the hell out of it. I dont care.
Answer: No, big drives like that need AC power, hence the AC adapter it uses If you have an iPod you could use it like that though

Can you hook up a DVR to your computer?

My friend has a Directv DVR r10 series 2. She wants to know if she can hook it up to her computer somehow and record the shows off of it onto her computers hard drive. It has a USB port on it, but I think its for something besides hooking it up to a computer. Basically I think the only way she can get the stuff off of her DVR is to buy an all-in wonder-card and then hook up her DVR to her computer that way and then record through whatever program the all-in-wonder comes with. Anyway, does anybody have any ideas for her? Would the all-in-wonder work, could the USB work (other than hacking it to hell), or is this a lost cause?
Answer: I have an R10 too, and use a Hauppauge PVR 250 TV Tuner to record shows to my computer. Basically, you are on the right track with details mentioned in your question. The AIW (all in wonder) is a video card, and can be used to record shows, but if you already have a decent video card in your computer, I would get a TV Tuner card which can be added to one of your PCI slots. (Changing the video card in your computer is much more of a challenge than adding a tv tuner card.) The advantage of using a Hauppauge TV tuner card is that a lot of the encoding done is with the card, whereas, if you used the AIW video card, the encoding process uses your computers processor. I have had problems with the TV Tuner card that I bought. It is entirely an Audio problem. For instance if I hit the record button on my computer the sound would immediately garbled. To fix it, I would shut down the program reopen it and record it again-until the sound was clear. It doesnt always happen but it still bugs me. I had more bugs with the AIW card though. I have an older video card (9600 128mb) and all I can say is it is a b*tch to install, even on a newly formatted system. When you get it up and running it is a nice program, and offers more custom video capture settings than the Hauppauge. If I were you, just get a TV Tuner card. And start there. The Hauppauge comes with the software needed to record shows. The only 'additional' thing you need is an S Video cable that can reach from the back of your computer to the R10, and an Audio cable that has a Headphone like plug on one end and the typical RCA RED WHITE plugs on the other end. The USB ports on units like this are not useable, as far as I know. Tell your friend to take care of that R10! :) DirecTV's latest R15's are HORRIBLE to no end. They are nothing like using a user friendly TIVO based system like the R10 and units before that. If the R10 unit craps out, I strongly suggest buying another R10 online before getting the DTV R15 which comes with a 2 year committment. Good Luck.

Accomodation near DAFZA ( Dubai Air port free zone )?

Hi , I am on the lookout for accomodation near DAFZA but lost about the surroundings . I was told Deira is the closest residential area to DAFZA but wondering how exactly to know the most convenient place to stay. I dont have a UAE driving license and hence would need to use the public transport for some time . Are Dubai International city and Discovery gardens closer to DAFZA ? I think Deira is over crowded , hence would be like to stay out of this area. Also , is DAFZA more closer towards Sharjah ? Thanks
Answer: int city and discovery will not work for you if you are located some where near metro station the best option/cheap would be the area around mall of emirates(al barsha)-------------cheers agree with billi (actually never thought of that)

This is from the Washington Post! And you wonder why?

Georgetowns Hidden History First, it was a slave port. Later, it was a thriving center of black life. Today, its a virtually all-white enclave. Why? Georgetowns Hidden History First, it was a slave port. Later, it was a thriving center of black life. Today, its a virtually all-white enclave. Why? By Andrew Stephen Sunday, July 16, 2006; B01 Two negro men $300 One ditto woman $150 Four ditto girls $150 Two horses $200 Two cows $30 It was a shocking discovery . Flipping through files at the local library a few months ago for a school project, my 16-year-old son chanced upon the deeds of the house in which we live. He already knew it was one of the oldest in Georgetown; now he learned that in 1807, it was owned by a Thomas Turner and valued at $3,500. But it was the valuation of this other property, listed so matter-of-factly in the records, that stopped him cold: Slaves, he realized, had once lived in our house. This awful knowledge set him on a quest for the hidden history of Georgetown, exposing unpalatable truths that had been lost, if not willfully forgotten, over the decades: that the supposedly chic Georgetown of today had once been the center of a thriving slave trade, a significant port of call for traffickers in human flesh transported in from Africa and plantations in Maryland and Virginia. Yet so obscured has this history become that not even most Washingtonians are aware of it. Nor are they aware of the flourishing black community, mostly descended from those slaves, that once occupied a large portion of Georgetown -- until a combination of legislative, social and economic pressures gradually forced nearly all the black people out, turning the neighborhood into the wealthy, effectively all-white enclave it is today. My sons research unearthed one part of this forgotten narrative of our neighborhood. A second hint lay in a curious Georgetown phenomenon that had always puzzled us: the continuing existence of several thriving black churches, filled every Sunday morning with African Americans who do not actually live here. The history of our own house, though, still seemed surreal -- until, that is, very recently. Deep in the bowels of our house, there is a crude crawl space beneath the basement, a darkly mysterious place in which it is impossible to stand upright. It is filled with an ancient cesspit, cavities, brickwork and ledges that I had vaguely assumed served some long-forgotten purpose; one of my least-favorite tasks is crawling into it to remove the bodies of our share of the huge Norway rats that swarm all over the neighborhood. A month or so ago, an electrician had to crawl into the space, and afterward I apologized that hed had to do so. "No problem," he replied. "You can see that was where slaves did the cooking." For me, at least, the penny suddenly dropped. In that space below my house where only rats now live, we concluded, fellow humans had almost certainly cooked for Mr. Turner and his family -- and may even have slept there, too. This thought brought home to my family and me some realities of U.S. history that so many white Americans choose either not to know or to forget: the roots of racial animosity and why their legacy persists to this day. Lest we forget, there were neither blacks nor whites in Georgetown -- then known as Tahoga -- before British settlers came ashore around 1696. It was a peaceful village inhabited by the Nacotchanke Indians. Straightforward facts and precise dates of Georgetown history are difficult to establish; much of the subject is undocumented, and accounts differ. But the basic story is indisputable. The Indians were soon expunged by the settlers. Then, in the 18th century, white entrepreneurs realized that huge sums of money could be made from the insatiable demand -- in both Europe and the United States -- for the tobacco cultivated in Virginia and Maryland (of which Georgetown was then a part). Because of its position on the Potomac, Georgetown provided an ideal port from which ships laden with tobacco could sail to Europe; by the end of the 18th century, it was just about the largest tobacco port in the United States, an economic powerhouse to which slaves were brought to provide labor and to service the households of the tobacco merchants. Slavery, of course, is as old as humanity. European powers -- first Portugal, followed by Spain, France and Britain -- began abducting men and women from Africa to work as slaves in the New World. To its everlasting shame, Britain, my own country, was responsible for the transport of probably more than a million slaves, many of them to work in the sugar fields of the Caribbean. But at the point when English abolitionists were finally forcing an end to my countrys slave trade, Americas exploitation of slaves on its soil had not even reached its zenith. The year of Britains Abolition of the Slave Trade Act -- 1807 -- has a special resonance for me, as it is the very year when Thomas Turner owned those seven slaves. I shudder to realize that just a two-minute walk from my house, a white man named John Beattie conducted a highly successful slave-trade business on what is now O Street, just east of Wisconsin Avenue, that flourished well into the second half of the 19th century. Blacks thus became essential economic tools for the development of Georgetown, but were simultaneously feared and rejected socially. The first Georgetown law to oppress them came as early as 1795, forbidding them to congregate in groups of seven or more. The 1800 Census showed that, in a population of 5,120 in Georgetown, there were already 1,449 slaves and 277 "free blacks." There was a lone exception to the congregating law: Blacks could go to church on the Sabbath. But they were still kept rigidly separate from whites. St. Johns Episcopal Church, established in 1816 at 33rd and O streets NW, had an outdoor staircase built especially for blacks; its still there today. That same year, hardly surprisingly, a handful of free black men managed to start their own tiny church -- which was to become Mount Zion United Methodist Church, one of the churches that remain a potent black force in Georgetown today. It was another half-century, though, before Mount Zion was allowed to have its own black minister. Its burial crypt, still visible at the churchs cemetery at 27th and Q streets NW, was reputed to be a hiding place for escaped slaves fleeing to the North via the Underground Railroad. I imagine that at least the girls who formed part of the property of my house in 1807 were still alive when the 1848 "Black Code; Ordinances of the Corporation of Georgetown" was introduced. It is hard to convey the viciousness of the laws, so I will confine myself to just three examples: The code decreed that any black person swimming in the Potomac or Rock Creek at night "shall be publicly whipped"; that any black person who watched a cockfight could be punished with as many as 39 lashes; and that even flying a kite was punishable by whipping. That same year, 77 slaves tried to escape this kind of oppression on a ship called the Pearl; furious owners sent a posse on a steamer called the Salem to recapture them, and it caught up with the Pearl 140 miles downriver. The black flight from Georgetown was already beginning. But blacks were still being bought and sold here as late as November 1861. The next year, President Abraham Lincoln signed a local law that freed slaves eight months before the Emancipation Proclamation. Furious white merchants demanded compensation, and an "expert examiner of slaves" was brought in. After examining their teeth and general health, he assessed the overall value of the slaves of Georgetown, D.C., at $300,000. Georgetowns whites then voted against a Negro Suffrage Bill by 712 to 1, passing a motion describing it as "wholly uncalled for, and an act of grievous oppression." Blacks from the South, anticipating freedom, nonetheless poured into Georgetown. Between 1865 and 1870, its black population increased from 1,935 to 3,271. Over the next two or three decades, a skilled black working class started to emerge alongside a handful of black professionals. But countless laws and regulations that continued well into the 20th century prevented true economic and social emancipation: Only white passengers were allowed to ride on Georgetowns new electric streetcars, for example, enabling them to commute to Washington for well-paying jobs that were effectively denied to blacks. Then came a series of economic blows that began to seal the fate of Georgetowns blacks. The Potomac silted up, virtually ending the industrial effectiveness of Georgetowns harbor. The Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, which flowed through Georgetown and was crucial to many businesses such as flour and paper mills, flooded disastrously in 1889. Blacks were the first to lose their jobs when countless firms went bust. By 1910, the black population of Georgetown had peaked, and when the Great Depression struck 19 years later, more and more blacks found themselves displaced by whites taking menial jobs. Perversely, FDRs New Deal then began to work against blacks in Georgetown. Thousands of well-paid white government workers poured into Washington, creating further demand for housing and pushing property prices ever higher in Georgetown. "The dispossession of the Negro resident [of Georgetown]," the Conference on Better Housing Among Negroes reported, "is jointly managed by the citys leading realtors and their allied banks and trust companies." Two pieces of legislation passed in the 20th century by none other than Congress itself, though, were the final straws for Georgetowns blacks. The ostensible purpose of the District of Columbia Alley Dwelling Act of 1934 was to get rid of slums; but I suspect that to a House with only one black member and a Senate with none at all, slums and blacks were synonymous. Then, in 1950, Congress passed the Old Georgetown Act "to preserve and protect places of historic interest," but it had the effect of making Georgetowns gentrification legally enforceable. It was pushed through despite fears from "Negro groups," The Washington Post reported at the time, that it "might drive them from the area." Less than a decade later, Georgetowns black population had dwindled to fewer than 3 percent, and in 1972 The Post noted that fewer than 250 remained, "so few that some Georgetown residents are unaware they are there." Blacks were thus becoming invisible by the time the likes of Democratic doyenne Pamela Harriman started creating Georgetowns all-white "social salons" of such ludicrous legend. Indeed, racism was so entrenched in the nations capital that even the glamorous young Sen. John F. Kennedy voluntarily signed a deed containing a "restrictive covenant" when he bought his house on N Street NW in 1957, agreeing that the home should not "ever be used or occupied or sold, conveyed, leased, rented, or given to Negroes or any person or persons of the Negro race or blood." Which brings us full circle to 2006. My son and I went to Mount Zion church on a recent Sunday morning and met an 84-year-old black parishioner named Carter Bowman, who was born in Georgetown but who long ago moved out. With neat serendipity, we met three generations of Bowmans because his son and grandson, who attends university in England, happened to be visiting. But if you go three generations in the reverse direction, you find that all of Carter Bowmans great-grandparents were born and raised when slavery was at its most intense in Georgetown. For all I know, they could have resided in that crude basement in my house, or someplace like it. Knowing what I know now, I found it strangely moving when the Rev. Robert Slade, chief pastor at Mount Zion -- who doesnt live in Georgetown -- told my son that "when we didnt have anything, the church was our everything. . . . When there was nothing and no place to go, [it] was the one place to go." Slades words, to us, explain why the emotional bonds to the black churches in Georgetown remain so strong. It took a 16-year-old to bring all these realities of life in Georgetown, past and present, home to me. As a foreigner who remains deeply attached to America, I find it bewildering how so self-reverential a country can proclaim that all men are created equal but then proceed to implement racist oppression that manifestly expresses the reverse. The truth that my son and I discovered is that for many decades, blacks in Georgetown were treated little better than rats. He will never forget that, and neither will I. newstatesman@usa.net Andrew Stephen is the U.S. editor of the New Statesman magazine.
Answer: Don't know why you're so bent out of shape about something that took place so long ago. I'd be willing to bet that this info has no impact on your life financially, spiritually or even physically. Yes, people made some horrendous mistakes in the past...but if you constantly dwell on what has happened you will never be able to change what should be. We all know that slavery was accepted at one time here in the U.S. and I personally wouldn't condone it if it was still in existence today. I abhor the notion altogether. But that practice was ended by Abe Lincoln. And what about the slave owners in Africa and the middle east today? Wouldn't your passion for this subject serve people better if it were applied to current circumstances? You were never a slave so why not help prevent others from knowing what being a slave is like? People that throw this in my face all the time earn no points with me because they, nor I, have a legitimate frame of reference. Let it go. Teach what was so it will never happen again and encourage kids to become something bigger and better. Life's too short so grab the best you can and do something constructive with it.

Answer: What do you mean break? I haven't seen or heard anyone say anything like that. Then again, I live in Sydney and the AFL coverage isn't too good up here. Was it on One Week At A Time or something? We can still make the top 4 pretty easily.
