Can I get a form of photo ID thats not a passport in the UK?

Im 16 and was asked for ID for a 15 film at the cinema today. As Ive never been abroad, Ive never had a passport, so all I could give was my birth certificate. The manager of the cinema wasnt happy, but after an argument with myself and my mother, I was permitted to see the movie. I looked into getting some form of ID card, but a page on the home office website says that ID cards are now invalid. Is there anything that I can get instead? I do intend to eventually get a passport, but as Im not planning to go abroad in the nex year or so and dont have the money to just buy a passport, Id like to get something for the time being. Also, when I do get my passport, I dont fancy carrying it around with me all the time as itd probably get lost or stolen. So, is there anything I can do? Thanks!

Answer: Consumer level HD camcorders have 4 problems. 1) Blurry, fuzzy, out of focus areas closely around people in videos taken by consumer level HD camcorders. 2) Any movement, even a wave or lifting an arm, while in front of a recording consumer level HD camcorder, results in screen ghosts and artifacts being left on the video track, following the movement. Makes for bad video, sports videos are unwatchable. 3) These Consumer level HD camcorders all have a habit of the transferred to computer files are something you need to convert, thus losing your HD quality, to work with your editing software. 4) Mandatory maximum record times - 1 hour, 30 minutes, 8 minutes, 3 minutes – four different times advertised as maximum record time for some consumer level HD camcorders. No event I have ever been to is that short. Either take multiple camcorders or pack up with out getting the end of the event on video. Consumer level HD camcorders interpolate the video. This means they take one frame, make up the next 4 or 5 frames, take a frame and repeat this, over and over, for the remainder of the video, every video it takes is like this.With a MiniDV tape camcorder, record 60 or 90 minutes ( camcorder settings), 90 seconds or less to change a tape and record for 60 or 90 more and repeat till you run out of tapes. You can get a Canon ZR960 for $250. It is a MiniDV tape camcorder, has a Mic jack. You will need a firewire (IEEE1394) card ($25 to 30) for the computer and a firewire cable (less than 10) to be able to transfer video to your computer. To say this is not HD, think about this. whats different between hd cameras an digital cameras which can record hd movies?

I obviously know that the huge HD cams they use are much more professional than my nex-3 or canon 5d mark II which both can record HD 720i & 1080i but I want to know what are the advantages of using those gigantic cameras they use in cinema and TV ?
Answer: Bigger lenses, larger imaging collection devices inside, steadier shots (camera and stand have more mass), easier to reach manual controls, better connectivity to recording devices for storage, less compression used in the video stream when sending to the storage device... They can have SMTPE capabilities for synching audio and video. Low light behavior is superior because of their design and large lenses and imaging collection devices. In the area you are asking, digital still cameras - and dSLRs - were designed to capture stills. They do that very well. Video and audio capture and storage are "convenience features". They are getting better, but the compression used on the video and the audio controls are still not very good. Large production-type cameras (Panavision, Arri, etc.) are designed to capture moving images. Many do not have any audio capabilities and cannot capture a digital still image. They are not built to compromise by offering "convenience features".

Answer: I keep saying it, as an independent business person you need to do something as uncool as actually write proper English. You know, caps, punctuation, those things. If your main focus is video you don't need that many pixels. Even HD TV is only 1920x1080 and that's slightly more than 2 megapixels. Currently a lot of film makers are switching to DSLR cameras. http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/camcorders/cam-cam.shtml explains a bit about that. That does mean that prices for decent consumer camcorders are dropping on the used market. Do go for something that can take an external microphone and get a decent rig for it. http://dslrvideoshooter.com/cheap-20-dollar-rig-works-well-for-hdslr-work/ shows that even a very cheap product already makes a lot of difference.

Answer: Anything but a Nikon. For years they were number 1 in everything and still make some good cameras, but the good ones are expensive. Coolpix are popular but have problems; I had an S70 coolpix that broke 3 times, would work 1 time and same problem would come back. They have one of the lowest rated customer service departments and they have no problem lying to you. When I sent the camera back the third time I said I wanted it replaced; it was a lemon. Recently after complaining again, they kept saying send it back and I refused and said I wanted to speak to someone in management. Someone pretending to be management contacted me and said to send it back with a letter requesting a replacement. All I got was a bill to repair the camera for $108. Buy a canon they are all highly rated by Consumer reports. Also chek Amazon ratings before buying.

What video cards would give me a similar level of video performance of a current gen video game console?

Im working with a an Athlon X2 4200 (2.2ghz 512k) with 2gb 800mhz DDR2. I was trying to squeeze what little life let out of my agp Pny personal cinema FX 5700 128mb vid card, but I just got word I had a stimulus check( $600 woot!) waiting at my parent house so I figure, why not splurge. There are only 2 games I play and they are madden 08 and GTA: san andreas. I built my current system really just for music creation, and its suits me fine. My current 128mb card handles madden and GTA with no problems. but they are essientially on the level of PS2/XBOX in terms of graphics and EA has just decided they wont port the nex gen graphic engine for madden to PC, so Im considering getting a PS3 or XBOX 360 depending upon how much I would have to pay for a new mobo and pcie 2.0 vid card (current mobo is agp, a rare agp ddr2 combo). Answer: Well, there are AGP cards that perform just as well as the PS3 and 360. It just costs a little more and the performance is bottle necked due to the AGP interface. Any ATI R600 series or Nvidia 8 series can match the performance of a PS3 or 360. There are a couple of R600 that were made compatible with the AGP interface.
