Sri Lanka: 34 journalists and media workers killed during present government rule.Is it not pathetic?
http://www.thesundayleader.lk/20090726/issues.HTM
From the above link The Sunday Leader,a Lankan News Paper, the following distressing facts
It is in this context JDS reports with anger and great sadness that 34 journalists and media workers have been killed with no recourse to justice since the present government was formed. Out of 34 killed three were Sinhala journalists, one Muslim and 30 were from the Tamil community. A complete list of all journalists is attached below.
In addition, 10 journalists and media workers were abducted. Journalist Jeyaprakash Tissainayagam, his printer Vetrivel Jesiharan and Jesiharan’s wife Vadivel Valarmathi remain in custody since their arrest over a year ago. These killings and abductions clearly demonstrate the culture of impunity that prevails in Sri Lanka.
During the same period, intimidations and threats against journalists and media increased unabated. This situation resulted in more than 50 journalists leaving Sri Lanka fearing persecution: Austria 01; Australia 03; Canada 03; Denmark 01; France 12; Germany 04; India 05; Malaysia 01; Netherlands 02; Nepal 02; Norway 02; Switzerland 16; UK 10; USA 02.

Question about upcoming raj rajaratnam trial?
Since the S.E.C. And FBI have him on wiretap for his 17 counts of insider trading and conspiracy to commit, and he is fighting the charges at the end of the month, what could he and his lawyers possibly argue against that kind of evidence?
Answer: It is an academic question.....
The jurors will assume that because he is appearing before them in a federal courthouse, he must be guilty...Typically, their thinking is..... "Well, the A.U.S.A.(Assistant United States Attorney) must have good evidence against him"......The jurors will see the United States Marshals surrounding raj and his lawyers. The prosecution will present tons of papers and largely technical information that the jury will not understand.
I predict he will go to federal prison and do, let us say,twenty-five (25) years.....but not to worry, he can spend up to $300.00 per month for sweets at the prison store and he will be able to work at Federal Prison Industries., Inc.which is owned by the Justice Department.

Should the last portion of this article be called SCORES in the boardroom?
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB125634088127304905.html?mod=googlenews_wsj
Wouldnt it be really amusing if the RA in the catsuit in the boardroom on the conference table was actually an employee at SCORES???
Employees at Galleon recall some unusual scenes. Last summer, Mr. Rajaratnam asked a junior female analyst to buy a black spandex outfit from retailer Lululemon Athletica Inc. as part of a research project into the company, a hotly traded stock.
He then asked the analyst to wear the outfit at the firms morning meeting, said people who were there. As employees giggled, Mr. Rajaratnam made the point that few consumers would pay so much money for the expensive outfit in a recession, these people said.
Mr. Rajaratnam then asked the analyst to walk back and forth on top of the conference table, said the people who attended. At that point, the firms chief financial officer, Rich Scutte, urged the presentation to stop
At least Scutte was thinking with his big brain at the potential of lawsuits from all female employees for gender discrimination and harrasment. I believe if Raj had donned a spandex catsuit also and a pair of 5 inch man-heels and joined the RA on top of the conference table he might have reduced potential liability to Galleon. Of course that would have caused much more than nervous giggles at the morning meeting - I hope everyone had their cameraphones out and that the meeting was being podcast to Rajs affiliate offices. These days everyone has cameras on their laptops also so a full lenghth presentation can be burned and sent to whomever.
Answer: He looks like a talented guy being framed.

The wall street bailouts, the greedy banker crooks, the credit bubble, and 2 of the most successful men?
Put behind bars? All of our problems are the result of Capitalism waning out its good ol days and evolving into Pure Capitalism. Raj Rajaratnam, and Bernie Madoff used and abused the system. Bernie stole billions upon billions while Raj was involved in using insider information to trade securities.
Im a Capitalist. Most people like the system, but for anyone to believe that no sort of rules or regulation should apply well you may as well turn loose Madoff and Rajaratnam and kiss wall streets ass. Anyone that really knows what Capitalism is knows it is a system that isnt perfect and it has its ill effects, the wall street scandal was one of them.
Massive deregulation and unchecked rules change Capitalism into a Predatory System, where Bernie Madoff was the wolf and the people who lost everything were naked babies thrown in the woods.
For people to sit there and scream and holler that regulations only hurt the system are not only ignorant of Capitalism but they are also extreme nutjobs just like hardcore communist and socialists. Capitalism is not perfect, and its ill effects are what breeds the rise of Communism and Socialism.
Out of all the stories I heard from people who lost everything in wall street, not one of them opposed the idea of NO regulations.
In fact, they were all saying WHERE WAS THE REGULATION?
Some regulation and rules are neccassry to protect peoples investments from thieves and crooks.
necessary. *
Capitan F I really did expect a silly answer.
This isnt about politics about our failing system, obviously you cant think of a intelligence answer because here you are pointing the fingers at Democrats.
Captian F - Do you believe its OK for people to cheat, and steal in order to become successful?
Basically this is what these people did. Because no one was stopping them. This is pure capitalism and it continues more and more of Americans will HATE the system.
Hitlers Germany rose on the ill-effects of Capitalism, just like many other countries. I believe we are heading down that same road until we get things in order where they ought to be.
Answer: Agree.

FBI raids 3 hedge funds in insider case - report, Dont you think it was about time?
The FBI raided three hedge funds in connection with a widening probe into insider trading, the Wall Street Journal said on Monday. Skip related content
Diamondback Capital Management LLC and Level Global Investors LP, two Connecticut funds run by former managers of Steven Cohens SAC Capital Advisors, were among those raided, according to the report.
Also raided was Boston-based Loch Capital Management, according to the report. Loch has had close ties with a witness who pleaded guilty in a separate insider trading probe centred on the Galleon Group hedge fund.
The raids come as federal prosecutors prepare to unveil a series of new insider trading cases against hedge fund traders, consultants and Wall Street bankers, several lawyers familiar with the investigation said.
This is on top of what prosecutors have described as the largest U.S. hedge fund insider trading case ever. That case is centred on Raj Rajaratnams hedge fund Galleon Group, and has led to criminal or civil charges against at least 23 people since being announced just over one year ago.

Of course the people who have never heard of Rajaratnam are not going to have an opinion of him but tell them that He and his organization has been funding terrorist activities and paying off politicians on the island and they too will definitely be opposed to a dual-national contributing to the death of peoples on Sri Lanka. It is a glaring political and foreign affairs miscalculation that just because people may be ignorant of certain information that their rights to protection from those elements is diminshed. Furthermore, the civil suit against Rajaratnam can be expanded into a full class action matter that holds him and certain named and unnamed Jonn and Jane Does as well as International interests liable. Whether one is transponding, transducing, transmitting or transiting there is no chance of TRANSFORMING this matter into a matter that doesnt matter.

Why cut bail for Rajaratnam when the content of his attorneys letter asking for such is bogus?
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aJL97pNnL3DQ
Rajaratnam faces 10 years per charge and (I believe) a minimum of 20 years not a sum total of 10 years. Also the timing of his international departures and the alleged raising of additional funding through international sources both appear to be further manipulations of insider information.

The judge should also be aware of his shady dealings surrounding International trades ala TJ -Saxon is also on his way back to Thailand to face charges of misappropriation and manipulation. Interestingly, it seems that right around the time that Saxon went into semi-exile status is when Raritan geared up for all his illegal activities. When there are so many international players involved that are in this group that have already displayed propensity to abandon charges, families, parents etc when they get in hot water there is no denying that similar impulses may overtake Rajaratnam.
Answer: Actually I believe everything you say.
The bail should not have been cut.

What are the contributions of Sinnathamby Rajaratnam?(please explain in details)?
Sinnathamby Rajaratnam is one of Singapores pioneers.
Answer: In 1954, Rajaratnam cofounded the People's Action Party together with Lee Kuan Yew, Goh Keng Swee and others. He became popular among his supporters for being able to effectively follow the 'mood of the people'. He was also actively involved in organising major political campaigns against Singaporean groups on the far left. During his years in parliament, he served as Minister for Culture (1959), Minister for Foreign Affairs (1965-1980), Minister for Labour (1968-1971), and Second Deputy Prime Minister (1980-1985) and was later appointed as Senior Minister until his retirement in 1988. Rajaratnam is remembered for writing the Singapore pledge in 1966.
Rajaratnam was Singapore's first foreign minister, following its abrupt independence in 1965. During his tenure as foreign minister, Rajaratnam helped Singapore gain entry into the United Nations and later the Non-Aligned Movement in 1970. He built up the Foreign Service and helped to establish diplomatic links with other countries and secure international recognition of the new nation's sovereignty. He carried out the foreign policy of international self-assertion to establish Singapore's independence during the period when the country faced significant challenges including the Konfrontasi conflict in the 1960s and the withdrawal of British troops in the early 1970s. Rajaratnam was one of the five "founding fathers" of ASEAN in 1967 and helped to draw international attention to Vietnam's invasion of Cambodia in 1978.
During his term as Minister of Labour, he implemented tough labour laws to attempt to restore stability in the Singaporean economy and attracted multinational corporations to invest in Singapore. This important appointment emphasised the trust that the government had in him in overcoming the challenges Singapore faced.
